IMC Specifications

Intermediate Metal Conduit (IMC) is a lighter alternative to Rigid Metal Conduit (RMC), made from galvanized steel, ranging in size from 1/2" to 4" in diameter.

It features threaded ends for secure connections and is versatile enough for both indoor and outdoor use, in exposed or concealed settings. IMC complies with ANSI and UL standards, ensuring it meets safety and reliability criteria for various electrical installations.

Lightweight, Easy Install

Compared to rigid, IMC is 30% lighter, making it easier to handle, transport, and install, especially for longer runs or when working at heights.

Sustainable and Bendable

IMC conduit, due to its slightly lighter wall thickness, makes it easier than rigid to produce wrinkle-free bends, reduce kinking, and minimize splitting from multiple bends. 100% recyclable.

Interior Zinc Coating

The interior zinc coating provides a smooth surface for faster wire pulling. A protective coating is placed over galvanizing to provide a longer life cycle.

Exceptional Physical Protection

IMC reduces exposure to EMF and shields against electromagnetic interference. Despite IMC’s slightly thinner wall, it still provides exceptional impact resistance and is non-combustible.

Locations

RMC’s intermediate metallic conduit meets the requirements of National Electrical Code Article 342 for use in indoor and outdoor locations and in wet and dry locations, including Class 1 Division 1 Hazardous Locations.

IMC provides exceptional physical protection, reduces exposure to EMF and shields against electromagnetic interference.
